Autumn is not just a season when the leaves fall. The days are still long, nature presents a magnificent array of colours, and the summer crowds have deserted the terraces and beaches. It's also a time for the school holidays and long weekends in November. Vacances Bleues combines the appeal of the low-season with a home from home feel, with the bonus of a change of scenery and a host of exceptional services.
Where to holiday in September and October? We suggest several destinations in certain parts of France where you can still enjoy fine weather at this time of year.
The Mediterranean, the Basque Country, not forgetting activity holidays for the kids... There are also stunning city destinations, such as Nice Paris and Menton, to explore. Like in summer, there are plenty of places to choose from, but at much lower prices !
No need to take a plane to find tranquillity and beautiful beaches. Located in the South of France, the Mediterranean offers relaxing days by the water's edge with a sunny climate still ideal for a touch of sunbathing. For holidays in September, October and November, we have several suggested destinations.
Situated between Cannes and Saint Tropez, our residence Le Méditerranée welcomes you for a pleasant stay in Saint Raphaël. First opened in 1914, this magnificent Victorian-style building has been a popular destination for some of the world's most famous names. This is where Scott Fitzgerald found inspiration, as it was here that he wrote "The Great Gatsby". Something to inspire you when you're writing your postcards. When it comes to sightseeing, discover the basilica of Notre Dame de la Victoire, the Tour San Rafeu, the bay of Agay, Fréjus, and the Corniche d'Or. As for activities, golf, tennis, mountain biking, and hiking are all on offer as well as the Museum of History, Prehistory and Underwater Archaeology.
In Hyères, the fine weather lasts right up to the end of the year. In September, there is even more sunshine (on average) than in March and April. To benefit, Le Plein Sud, and its lagoon, offers a yacht-club atmosphere. In large grounds, facing the Iles d'Or, you will obviously enjoy the setting, but also benefit from a wealth of on-site activities. There are many beautiful places to visit in the surrounding area including historic Hyères, Villa Noailles, Giens, the Iles d'Or, Cassis, Bormes-les-Mimosas, Port Grimaud and St Tropez.
Another idea for your Mediterranean autumn holiday... On the spectacular peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat (a favourite among millionaires), Hotel Delcloy enjoys an exceptional location, overlooking La Baie des Fourmis and the sea. Benefit from a heated open-air pool, the beach just 5 minutes away,
and a number of fabulous walks in the area such as the Maurice Rouvier promenade, Tour de la Pointe Saint-Hospice and its chapel, and Tour du Cap-Ferrat.
The Mediterranean promises dream holidays and it keeps to its word by providing a mild climate, clear skies and fine sandy beaches. When you stay in one of our amazing clubs or hotels, you'll enjoy a beachfront setting, beside clear blue waters.
Sometimes calm, sometimes stormy, the ocean sets the pace of life on the Atlantic coast. In autumn, the days are still long, and the light caresses a stunning landscape. Why not make the most of it by booking a stay in the Basque Country ?
Located in Hendaye, Villa Orhoïtza (meaning "remember" in Basque) is certainly unforgettable. Its architecture is typical of the Basque country, featuring white walls crowned with exposed beams and red shutters. To take in the fresh sea air, simply take a 50-metre stroll before reaching the beach... For those who want to get away from it all, visit Hendaye and the Château Observatoire Abbadia. Hike to La Rhune and enjoy panoramic views illuminated by the shimmering colours of autumn.
Would you like to visit Biarritz ? On the cliffs overlooking the Basque Coast, with an extraordinary view of the city and the Atlantic, Le Grand Large offers a holiday imbued with a nautical feel. Enjoying an exceptional location, it is just 200 metres from the old port and the city centre, and overlooks the Côte des Basques beach. If you fancy exploring the surrounding area, it's well worth heading inland. San Sebastian in Spain, is another lovely place to visit during your Basque country autumn break.
When you stay at Villa Régina in the autumn, you are one step ahead of the seasons. This Belle Époque residence is located in the Quartier de la Ville d'Hiver in Arcachon. Inaugurated in 1881, this venue has hosted many distinguished guests, including the Grand Dukes of Russia, Monet and Cézanne. This prestigious and historic backdrop is an ideal base for exploring the town and the Moorish park. The Dune du Pilat, Ile aux Oiseaux, Cabanes Tchanquées and Cap Ferret are all local treasures you'll love discovering.
Who better than Vacances Bleues to offer you a thousand and one delights from the Big Blue ?

Looking for a holiday in October to get away from it all ? Nicknamed "the Pearl of France", Menton and its charming colourful streets will make you feel as if you were in Italy. Its unique climate often means that you can enjoy lunches al fresco, even in December... We suggest two exceptional hotels for your stay in Menton.
Our 3-star hotel Le Royal Westminster, situated on La Promenade du Soleil. In this former palace from the Belle Epoque, you can enjoy all that the South of France has to offer, with Italy just around the corner. For a taste of the "dolce vita", check out Hotel Balmoral. One of the city's historic jewels, the hotel has been part of the Menton skyline since 1859. It is also located on Promenade du Soleil and boasts a restaurant with breath-taking sea views. A real treat for your eyes and your taste buds !
Nice also has some wonderful surprises in store for you. By staying at the hotel Le Royal, you will enjoy a setting worthy of the most picturesque postcards. Situated on La Promenade des Anglais, you will have La Baie des Anges and its many miles of beaches at your feet...
How about a stay in the capital for your autumn break ? Just a stone's throw from the theatres on Rue de la Gaieté and the Jardin du Luxembourg, Villa Modigliani is the ideal place for discovering the artists of Montparnasse.
Hotel Provinces Opéra is located near to the Grands Boulevards in the heart of Paris. Prior to becoming a hotel in 1850, this charming venue had several lives. It was first a hunting lodge for Henri IV, and later a convent. As history should not be at the expense of comfort and style, the hotel was entirely renovated and equipped with air conditioning in 2020. You can explore the lively Opéra district on foot and enjoy some shopping in the city's impressive department stores. You will also be close to theatres, museums, and leading attractions.
